Your initial service with the Rakkasans was the first step in the formation of a legacy that will live long after you do.

Your second step is to ensure that legacy continues.
By joining the Rakkasan Association you play a role in preserving our history, fostering that hard to find camaraderie, and carrying our shared legacy forward by being accessible to the young Rakkasans serving today.








Membership Types
regular members
Individuals who served honorably as: an assigned member (or is presently serving in a successor unit) of the Rakkasans; a member of any unit attached to the Rakkasans; and any individual assigned to any U.S. unit while such unit was assigned or attached to the Rakkasans. Regular Members have full membership rights, including voting on Association matters and electing Directors. They may also serve as Directors of the Association.
​​Reserve Member
Spouse of a Regular Member (living or deceased) or whose deceased spouse was eligible for membership but never joined, or whose membership had lapsed. Reserve members enjoy all rights of membership.

Hereditary Member​
Family members of individuals qualified to be a Regular Member - one generation up and open generations down. Hereditary Members have no voting rights and are not eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

Associate Member
Individuals who served honorably in the military and support the Rakkasans. Associate Members receive membership benefits but are not eligible to vote on Constitution/Bylaws matters, Board elections or serve on the Board of Directors.

Affiliate member
Individuals who support the Rakkasans. Affiliate Members have no voting privileges and may not serve on the Board of Directors.​​​​
Membership Classes






Annual​​
Membership expires after one year and must be renewed annually to stay current. This membership class is open to all membership types and members receive a membership card and poker chip.

Life ​
Membership is for life and the assigned number will not be reused. This membership class is open to all membership types. Life Members receive challenge coin, lapel pin, decal, certificate and permanent membership card.

Charter Life
The founders of the Association were largely Korean War veterans who earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. They created the Founding Charter Life membership category to reflect their status as both founding members and combat veterans. The Charter Life class was later established for those Rakkasans who served in combat after 1953, ensuring that recognition of Rakkasan combat experience would continue for future generations.
Membership is for life and the assigned member number will not be reused. This membership class is open to Regular Members (or qualified individuals) AND ONLY those who earned a CIB, CMB or CAB while assigned to or attached to the Rakkasans. Proof of CIB, CMB or CAB will be requested during the application process. Charter Life Members receive challenge coin, lapel pin, Charter Life decal, Charter Life certificate and permanent membership card.​​​​​​
